Elwood's Tree Service was founded by Elwood A. Newhouse in 1981. At 21, he rode his bicycle door to door to introduce the business.
The company grew, but the central idea remained consistent: practice modern arboriculture, keep learning as the profession changes, and earn trust through good work.
Today, Elwood's continues to focus on professionalism, customer satisfaction, strong ethics, and helping the public understand why correct tree care matters.

The Liberty Street heritage beech.
In 1990, Elwood Newhouse adopted an 88-year-old European beech at 1692 Liberty Street NE to preserve, prune, and feed it.
The tree was planted in 1902 from seed sent by relatives in Switzerland. Its story captures what preservation means: protect living history with patient, informed care.
